IT’S HIGHLY LIKELY

About a year ago we moved into West Adams, one of the first recommendations from locals and neighboring communities was HIGHLY LIKELY. The West Adams neighborhood go-to hub for some good eats and casual hangout. Sure enough Highly Likely quickly became our go-to eatery; for about the first month of living here we must have ate breakfast, lunch and dinner. Having possibly eaten most of the delicious menu, there are some favorites. The Breakfast Sando (which I can eat anytime of the day), Seedy Granola, Not another Kale Salad, Lil Fishy Sliders, and of course the Highly Burger with French Fries. Like any good friend sharing what’s good-I wanted to share a short story of Highly Likely…keep reading and hope you enjoy…

Highly Likely Cafe

I had the chance to sit with Kat, Highly Likely’s Chef for a lighthearted chat about her favorite meal, her personal style and what she thinks of Highly Likely as part of pop culture. Seen on Bravo Vanderpump Rules and HBO Insecure.

Nostalgia influenced Kat’s favorite dish. She reminisces of fishing with her dad while growing up between Wisconsin and Florida and Wisconsin’s fried fish-fish fries dining culture. West Adams is a blend of cultures, as the chef for Highly Likely Kat created the Fish Fingers Sando. A sando mixed with culture and filled with soul, just like West Adams a city with soul. The fish fingers sando is made of tempura fried fish, kosho tartar sauce, yuzu cabbage slaw on a milk bun-it’s delicious!

Kat’s signature style is effortless, feminine and utilitarian. A juxtaposition of “boy-girl” tension. Her go-to outfit is a jumpsuit by Lincoln (I think she has one in every color), it’s one-and-done, easy yet feminine, Clogmaster clogs in about four colors and fun, colorful printed face mask by Rhode. Her style is of her own, its non traditional chefs coat.

As a Bravo Fan, I had to ask about Highly Likely featured this past season on Vanderpump Rules. A pop-culture, guilty pleasure reality show. I was happily reminded she was also featured in the episode. It was fun to talk about because I was super excited when I saw the episode feature a West Adams eatery.

Highly Likely was also profiled this past season on HBOs hit show Insecure; a scripted comedy. That too was awesome for Kat. HBO’s-Insecure conscious effort profiling small businesses in South Los Angeles was a form of acceptance. She felt really good and was proud to be part of it.

Kat was a private chef for a decade; before friends asked her to join them in opening the cafe. It’s Highly Likely she made the right choice. Highly Likely is a fun place to hangout, grab your favorite morning coffee, lunch or dinner. It was important for Kat to keep Highly Likely open through these unusual times; to provide some type of normal for the staff and the community. I am grateful she did. Highly Likely is open with outdoor seating (socially distanced) and pick-up.

A special thanks to Kat for the opportunity to profile Highly Likely Cafe on Jefferson Blvd, West Adams.
