TODOS SANTOS, MX

Todos Santos, Mexico one of my favorite places on earth. It is a low key beach and surf town filled with endless sunny days, dreamy pink sunsets, and a carefree bohemian spirit. There is an amazing scenic juxtaposition of abundance desert cactus with the blue pacific ocean as the backdrop. In the Know destination for a carefree spot to unwind and enjoy delicious farm to table eats, small town shops, and emerging art scene.

Todos Santos, Mexico a Bohemian Town

This is probably where I am most happy. You don’t need much, but a carry on bag filled with bohemian dresses, swimwear, sandals, sunnies, a hat and tote bag. Most of the time your bare feet on the beach enjoying a lazy day with the warm sun shining reading a book.

Eats! Probably the best reason to travel. This town has an emerging food culture of dining in a local farm like Hierba Buena to mom and pop eateries. There is an appreciation and pride locals have with agriculture. My favorite go-to spots are off the beaten path coffee shops in the a.m., afternoon beach front tacos at the Barracuda Cantina for the Best Fish Tacos! Complimented with fresh margarita’s topped with fresh rosemary. As you take a sip of the margarita the rosemary scent is quite refreshing can’t help but to drink another; after all it is vacation.

Location, location, location… for me it doesn’t really matter if I stay in Los Cerritos or in-town. Both are great!

Free Souls villas in Los Cerritos is great if I’m planning to stay on the beach to swim and surf. Staying in town is quite charming; strolling around popping into coffee shops, art galleries, small boutiques, artisan markets, impromptu stops to have a beer, chips and guacamole. From town you can take an easy 15 minute drive to Los Cerritos for a surf or swim. Two spots I really enjoy Hotel San Cristobal located on the beach and Guaycura Boutique Hotel located in town. Other amazing hotels are Pachamama, The Farmhouse, El Perdido, CalyCanto Casitas, and Casa Tota.

Travel is a love and the hunt for beautiful artisan treasures is a passion. I am so grateful to have launched From Here To There Curated because I truly love sharing new findings. Todos Santos has charming shops to explore from local artisans showcasing handmade goods to modern boutiques. I usually start with the artisan shops returning to visit old friends and work my way into the cute modern boutiques. One of my favorite artisans is Corazon Zapoteco, 3 generations of ancestral weaving and natural dye techniques. Etnica is a little treasure for bohemian dresses, you have to dig a little, but there are special pieces; continue to Hilo Rojo and El Taller, for more….

In the Know Shops:

Todos Santos has an emerging art scene. One of my favorites is La Sonrisa de La Muerte celebrating graphic art and local artist. I had the chance to chat with the Carlos Domin partner and photographer about how and why they choose Todos Santos for their art gallery. Turns out it was by luck. Carlos and his partner are from Argentina; during a coastal road trip through Mexico, they realized their passports were soon to expire. At the time Argentina’s weather was rainy and stormy while Todos Santos had sunny and warm weather year round. It’s a magical town celebrating artist, which gave them the opportunity to live and do what they love. This is a town where the sun shines, beautiful scenery, ocean backdrop, and a peaceful life.

The Beaches…

Playa Los Cerritos is the spot to swim and surf. It’s a bohemian vibe with a low key style. It’s the spot to chill the entire day. While Turtle Beach is bare and beautiful. The El Faro Beach club is another beach to enjoy the view but you cannot swim. If your adventures take a day trip to Balandra a secret beach with a beautiful view and turquoise ocean. Keep going to La Paz and enjoy Playa Pichilingue and Playa Tecolote soak in the sun and easy going vibes.
